I am not sure if it is the same as other stocks, cause imagine you buy stocks with values less than 3 cents for $5k and it suddenly becomes 8 cents and guess what? you almost triple your money and such a things sounds to be more likely to happen for penny stocks.
What do you think? Am I wrong? Are there some extra charges for buying those stocks?

Now I know everyone says buying penny stocks is a stupid idea, but I don’t understand the reason as to why?

It seems like if you buy a thousand shares of something at 50 cents each, and then sell at 55 cents each, you’ve made a ten percent profit (or 50 bucks). For the most part, the price of stocks fluctuate across the course of the day, and there’s a fairly decent chance that if you keep your eyed open you’ll find a time when the stock rises a few cents… I know the risk involved, but if you look at most stocks priced at, say 45 cents, the daily range is from 37 to 60 cents. Buy at 45, sell at around 60?

Hi guys. I was a little confused about buying penny stocks (any stocks under $5 I think) through scottrade. I heard that a) they won’t let you do it b) if they do, they charge 1/2% fee for each trade (and how does that work? give any examples using stocks?) c) Does scottrade charge you if you buy lets say, shares of some foreign (chinese) company? Thank you guys for the answers, and I would really appreciate if you could add as much details as possible to help me with my little dilemma ^_^

What’s wrong with this plan? You do some mild research and look into like 10-20 penny stocks and buy 25 dollars worth of each and just hold them. If three blow up to like 4 or 5 bucks a share you’d make some alright cash. Why isn’t it as easy as I think, I know it isn’t. Please put as much info as you can.
